No matter the outcome of the election, the fight for freedom will continue. As we regroup and continue our efforts to block fascism and build power locally, nationally and globally, we will need to fortify ourselves for ongoing struggle. How do we build endurance for liberation?
Join us as we explore the power of combining our historical wisdom with innovative thinking. Our collective revolutionary past offers invaluable lessons, while our shared visions of the future inspire us to explore unconventional approaches. Our future depends on our ability to rise to this challenge.
In this special post-election conversation, Autumn Brown of AORTA will host an intergenerational dialogue between two brilliant movement organizers and strategists, Ricardo Levins Morales and Arianna Genis. We will offer an initial assessment of the post-election landscape, and discuss the unique challenges and opportunities opened up by the new political terrain. In sharing stories with one another, in celebrating our victories and mourning our losses, we will find the threads of practice that lead to greater freedom, now and tomorrow.

He has been active in movements for racial, environmental and economic justice since his family arrived in Chicago, from Puerto Rico, in 1967. She is the founder of The Movida Initiative, a platform building the power of Midwest Latinos to shape their future and democracy through innovative research, media, and community-centered initiatives that bridge the gap between them and the political and economic systems that have often excluded them. With over a decade of experience as a community organizer, she has successfully led efforts for change at organizations like TakeAction Minnesota and Mijente, including helping to secure paid sick leave in Minneapolis, leading campaigns that have elected progressive leaders of color, and playing a key role in boosting Latino voter turnout nationwide. Image description: An illustrated watercolor background featuring a nightscape of an evergreen forest, with trees appearing as silhouettes in the bottom of the image. The blending of a muted neon green fading into an ombre black and blue sky is suggestive of an aurora. In the sky portion of the image, white dots of varying sizes depict stars with a single shooting star. Lightly outlined block yellow text reads, “We are Generations”. Underneath is smaller outlined white text that reads, “Building Endurance for Liberation, Post-Election Edition”. Across the middle of the image are three rounded black and white images framed by golden rings and curved text representing the panelists, Autumn Brown, Ricardo Levins Morales, and Ariana Genis. From left to right: Autumn is looking to the side and is wearing a geometric patterned top with a hood with her hand placed over her heart. Ricardo is looking straight ahead at the camera with a slight smile. He is wearing a solid colored button down shirt with a round button on his lapel, glasses, and a newsboy cap. Behind him is a gallery wall of images that are out of focus. Arianna is looking straight ahead at the camera with a slight smile. She is wearing a light-colored button down top that hangs off shoulder held up by thick straps. She has shoulder-length, straight hair and is in front a solid-colored backdrop.
