Krista Nelson

Krista Nelson is a resident of Germantown in Philadelphia, PA — ancestral Lenape land. As a Black Indigenous single mother of five children, Krista views the current patriarchal system of greed and separation as the root of what hampers our ability to provide the best care for ourselves, each other, and the planet. She is a healer and forest bathing guide, integrating nature to ignite wellness and process grief. Krista engages in community organizing with Germantown Residents for Economic Alternatives Together (GREAT).

GREAT galvanizes neighbors to help one another thrive by sharing resources, organizing around issues of housing justice, and strengthening our holistic health and well-being. As a member of GREAT's steering committee, Krista has opportunities to co-facilitate meetings — where we learn, practice, and present ways of relating to one another.

Krista intends to utilize her facilitation skills, informed by GREAT’s values, to expand opportunities in which neighbors can co-create a culture of solidarity, collectivism, and distributed decision-making. Germantown, abundant with these skills, knowledge, and leadership moves closer to being the beloved community it intends to become.
