Neily

Neily holds a deep commitment to lending her expertise in democratically-managed finance and operations to support work for collective liberation, and is honored to do that work as AORTA’s Finance and Operations Coordinator.

Neily began working with AORTA in 2013 and played a critical role in AORTA’s early business development and incorporation as a worker cooperative. She weaves storytelling, humor, and weirdness into her ongoing work to align AORTA’s political values with our budget, policies, systems, and culture. Neily’s work as a queer white woman managing finances inside of a multiracial workplace has a lot to do with learning how to be more resilient, set healthy boundaries, move toward disagreement, and trust her own wisdom.

In the decade prior to joining AORTA, Neily served as Director of Education and Training at the North American Students of Cooperation, contracted as an organizer of the Eastern Conference for Workplace Democracy (ECWD), and worked as Operations Director at Common Ground Center. She lives  with her husband and their two young kids in rural Vermont on land that has been traditionally cared for by the Western Abenaki.

Neily currently serves as Treasurer for ACORN, a land and food systems stewardship organization. When she’s not making business magic happen, Neily’s into parenting, pottery, podcasts, books, wilderness, and triathlons. She takes frequent trips to Hartford, CT and Montreal, QC to visit extended family.
