sára
sára is a multi-species hearth tender, psychopomp, experience curator, and cosmic poet. They are a future transcestor of Arab, Iranian, and Pinxy lineages descended from nomadic dreamweavers, kitchen witches, tricksters, storytellers, land stewards, and sea-faring people. She currently lives in exile from her homelands practicing how to be in right relationship as a visitor on Turtle Island.
They grew up as an eldest child in a working class immigrant Sunni Muslim household against a backdrop of a cosmopolitan city flanked by U.S. militarized zones. They were immersed in the resilience practices of d.i.y. resourcefulness, extended kinship networks of care, collectivizing resources, and growing, gathering, and hunting for food, which formed the beginnings of their decolonial education. Their political journey began in childhood as a third culture kid navigating belonging and attending community events organized for Palestinian sovereignty. As a young person, their organizing practice grew out of resistance to American imperialism and Arab ethnocentrism, which deepened alongside other queer and trans people of the global majority working at the intersections of indigenous sovereignty, Black liberation, worker justice, birth and reproductive justice, environmental justice, food sovereignty, disability justice, and religious pluralism.
Their work and life rhythms over the past decade have been shaped by their relationship to ancestral remembrance, trauma aware healing, play, curiosity, liminality, restfulness, a care ethic, discernment, spiral time, and reconnection to the earth and cosmos. These continue to be guiding principles for how they arrive, create, and collaborate in work formations and culture building.
When she is in flow, you can find sára frolicking in the forests and waterways of Turtle Island, feeding their love of learning, crafting, romancing the moon, talking to plants, ritualizing their daily life, and nurturing collaborations.
