Apply to be an AORTA Client

Is your organization…

  • needing support on how to embed racial justice principles in your work?

  • feeling unanchored to a shared sense of values and purpose?

  • trying to create a new leadership and decision making structure?

  • seeking political education to strengthen a collective commitment to liberation?

If that’s you, bring AORTA in to resource your group through this organizational transformation work!

We review applications on a rolling basis. Depending on our current work load, potential clients can expect to hear back from AORTA between 1-2 months after applying.

Info Session

A few times a year, AORTA accepts a limited number of applications for client work (consulting, coaching, and facilitation). For this current cycle, we are especially welcoming applications for relational tending and conflict transformation work within organizations, but all are welcome!

The info session is an opportunity to learn more about how AORTA supports organizations getting unstuck and moving towards transformative change. Join us to get a more robust understanding of our approach, what we offer, and the process to decide if applying to work with AORTA might be a good fit for your group.⁣

⁣Access Notes: This information session will be live captioned and recorded. The recording will be shared on our website. We will be sharing our screen through Zoom, and the facilitators will be reading aloud and describing what is presented on the screen. Later in the session, we will open up the floor for questions via the Zoom webinar Q&A feature.⁣

Next Info Session: Tuesday, May 7th, 12:30-1:30pm PT/1:30-2:30pm MT/2:30-3:30pm CT/3:30-4:30pm ET

Is AORTA a good fit for my organization?

We may be a good fit for you if…

Racial justice and anti-oppression work is central to your values and vision.

You see yourself in a constellation of movement organizations; when we win, we all win. You orient to others in your sector as partners in the work, not competitors.

You want to build power amongst all workers in your organization, activating their agency and leadership. You are attentive to how formal and informal power operates inside of your organization.

You have a willingness to examine and remake cultures, behaviors, and governance away from the nonprofit industrial complex and towards solidarity economies. We work with organizations who are not seeking a “DEI” effort just to check the “equity box”. You want to trace problems to the root, and your organization is committed to anti-oppression work for the long-haul.

You want to co-design a project arc that may include consulting, coaching, facilitation and attention to emergent topics. We love to work with organizations who are interested in collaborating with us, instead of bringing us into a rigid plan.

Client FAQs

I’ve applied! What happens next?

We receive many applications each cycle, and cannot respond to all of them. If we are interested and have capacity to work with you, an AORTA member will reach out to set up an intake call. Depending on our current work load, potential clients can expect to hear back from AORTA between 1-2 months after applying. If we are not able to work with you, you may not receive a reply.

How much will it cost to work with you?

You can find our rates on the Rates page.

How long will a project with you last?

It depends on the scope of work that we agree on! Our work with organizations spans a one off workshop to years of consulting.

What if we are working with other consultants?

If you are working with other consultants, tell us right off the bat in your application if you can. This supports us in understanding the landscape of your organization the different processes and approaches you are working with.

We have an RFP. Could I ask AORTA to respond to it?

We ask that you fill out the application and share the RFP information with us there. If we are interested, we may respond.

Can AORTA facilitate for my group in person?

Maybe! Fill out the application to let us know about your request. We are taking on some in-person work with robust COVID-19 safety precautions.
