Ciara Williams

Ciara got her start in facilitation as an environmental justice organizer in her hometown of Chester, PA. Her work is centered around civic participation, history, and building intergenerational coalitions. She currently facilitates in her capacity as Board Chair for Reconstruction, Inc: a North Philly-based organization working at the intersection of community capacity building and the carceral logic. She is also a CoExecutive Director with the Post-Landfill Action Network (PLAN), an organization focused on supporting student leadership within the Zero Waste movement. Facilitation is transformative in these spaces because it can unlock the political possibility of democratic decision-making, self and institutional growth, and responsiveness to the larger context in which we are working within (the personal, familial, and communal). Ciara uses her facilitation to push against the dominant structures that lessen the effectiveness and humanity of collaborative organizing spaces. She believes in the power of facilitation to put different perspectives, experiences, and histories in conversation with each other.
